2014 Roederer Champagne Vintage Rose

95 Points Wine Enthusiast
In stock
A refined yet sensuous Rose Champagne from one of the region's greatest names. Roederer specially planted new vineyards with a warmer, sunnier aspect so that Pinot Noir would ripen properly for the production of a top notch Rose. Against this they source exceptional crispness from Chardonnay that is grown, on the contrary, in a separate area and on a north-facing site. This combination produces a finely balanced and age-worthy wine, with succulent red fruits and florals detailed in a seriously refreshing and age-worthy structure. Drink now or age.

63% Pinot Noir and 37% Chardonnay

Its Origins

Louis Roederer, a wonderful family-owned Champagne house founded in 1776, has a tremendous reputation for quality. The Louis Roederer House has remained an independent, family-owned company and is now managed by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the lineage. 80% of the firm's needs are supplied by their own, magnificent, 444 acres of vineyard holdings. Louis Roederer's Pinot Noir based non-vintage Brut Premier is powerful and richly-honeyed and is far superior to most other producers` vintage Champagnes. In 1876 Louis Roederer created the now famous Cristal, at the request of Alexander II. This once intensely sweet wine is now one of the most luscious, deeply flavoured champagnes available, with the '88, '89 and '90 among the greatest Cristals ever released.

What The Critics Say

95/100 Wine Enthusiast, Roger Voss

"The Roederer style has become drier as the fruit has become riper and this finely balanced Champagne is an excellent example. Taut and textured, with great freshness allied to the mineral and fruit tones, this wine just hints at tannins as it moves towards maturity. Drink from 2022."

94/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, William Kelley

"Wafting from the glass with notes of pear, raspberries and honeycomb, mingled with hints of white flowers and brioche, Roederer's 2014 Brut Vintage Rosé is medium to full-bodied, deep and complete, with fine concentration, brisk acids and an elegant pinpoint mousse. Long and penetrating, this is a fabulous cuvée that punches well above its weight, and it comes warmly recommended." Drink 2020 - 2040

93/100 Vinous, Antonio Galloni

"The 2014 Rosé is soft, gracious and in inviting, all in a delicate style that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring. Orange peel, spice, mint, star anise, rose petal and dried flowers give the 2014 a decidedly exotic feel. Airy and perfumed, with lovely understated persistence, the 2014 is a very pretty wine. I would prefer to drink it on the young side. Like all of the Roederer Rosés. The vintage Rosé is a blend of Chardonnay (in this case from Chouilly) and an infusion of still red Pinot (from Cumières) that was given 7-10 days of cold soak. Dosage is 8 grams per liter."
