Pearls of Piedmont

Or should we say Piemonte, qualitatively outstanding and highly distinctive wine region in north-west Italy. Nebbiolo is this region's answer to Burgundy. Nebbiolo ripens slowly in this cool climate and so develops impressive depth and complexity. With naturally high acid and tannins it is responsible for the famous cellaring wines Barolo and Barbaresco but also delicious varietal labels that drink younger but still have the the umami feel and signature notes of tar and roses. Dry and usually full bodied, we recommend drinking Nebbiolo sitting down…preferably in front of some richly carniverous dish. Let's not forget the often over-looked silky, focussed Barbera's and the wonderful white wines of Arneis, Nascetta and the delicious sparkling- Moscato D'Asti,
