Its Origins

Odyssey Wines is owned by Rebecca Salmond. Rebecca's voyage into winemaking began at Massey University in New Zealand and Adelaide University's Roseworthy College in Australia, where she graduated with a degree in Biotechnology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Winemaking Science. She then travelled and worked in some of the world's finest wine and culinary regions: Burgundy, Bordeaux and Cote Rotie in France; Alto Adige and Sicily in Italy; Marlborough and Hawkes Bay in New Zealand. Rebecca launched her label Odyssey in 1994, with small amounts of premium wines. Odyssey now has 25 acres of land in Marlborough's Brancott Valley under vine. Rebecca's well-honed philosophy sees her making only subtle adjustments to the wine, and using where appropriate the finest oaks. All wines are single vineyard. Odyssey Wines has garnered a number of accolades and awards.

What The Critics Say

5 Stars Wine Orbit, Sam Kim

"It's charming and nicely fragrant on the nose showing apricot, poached pear, orange peel and subtle spice aromas. The palate delivers ripe fruit flavours with rounded mouthfeel and smooth texture well supported by juicy acidity, making it immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2025. "

93/100 and rated "Excellent" by Cameron Douglas MS (2019 vintage)

"Odyssey Marlborough Pinot Gris 2019 (Vegan and Certified Organic) - Complex and familiar, varietal, fruity and gently spicy bouquet. Flavours white fleshed fruits of apples and pears, some Asian pear and a moments of five spice. The use of old barrel adds in layers of texture in contrast to the acidity, core of fruit flavours and creamy texture. A lovely wine with charm, a lengthy finish and complexity. What’s not to like! Best drinking from today and through 2023+."
