2016 Roederer Champagne Vintage Rose
Grape
Mainly Pinot Noir with some Chardonnay
Its Origins
Louis Roederer, a wonderful family-owned Champagne house founded in 1776, has a tremendous reputation for quality. The Louis Roederer House has remained an independent, family-owned company and is now managed by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the lineage. 80% of the firm's needs are supplied by their own, magnificent, 444 acres of vineyard holdings. Louis Roederer's Pinot Noir based non-vintage Brut Premier is powerful and richly-honeyed and is far superior to most other producers` vintage Champagnes. In 1876 Louis Roederer created the now famous Cristal, at the request of Alexander II. This once intensely sweet wine is now one of the most luscious, deeply flavoured champagnes available, with the '88, '89 and '90 among the greatest Cristals ever released.
What The Critics Say
94/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, William Kelley (2015 vintage)
"The 2015 Brut Vintage Rosé is generous and demonstrative, bursting with aromas of peach, orange and pear mingled with hints of red berries, fresh bread and ginger. Full-bodied, layered and vinous, it's rich and enveloping, its textural attack segueing into an ample, fleshy core that's girdled by bright acids and enlivened by a pillowy mousse. Long and expansive, it's more generous and gourmand than its racier 2014 predecessor, but just as good." Drink 2021 - 2031
94/100 James Suckling (2015 vintage)
"This shows lots of cotton candy and peach, together with strawberries and cream. But not overpowering. Some cranberry, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine bubbles and a lively finish. Dosage 8g/L. Drink now or hold."
