Its Origins
Château La Fleur Fompeyre is a distinguished winery located in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, neighboring the renowned Saint-Émilion region in southwestern France. The estate boasts a rich history, with its vineyards established in 1836. In 2000, entrepreneur Jean-Marie Pulido acquired the property and has since managed its 50 hectares of organic vineyards, which have been certified organic since 2011 . Château La Fleur Fompeyre produces classic Bordeaux-style red wines, primarily blending Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grapes. These wines are known for their full-bodied character, firm tannins, and pronounced acidity. Tasting notes often highlight flavors of unripe cherry, cocoa nib, black plum, and earthy undertones .
What The Critics Say
89/100 James Suckling
"This is [an] approachable red that offers vivid fruit character as well as spicy and cedary nuances. The palate is smooth and juicy with medium body and a soft, medium-long finish."
VertedeVin (2019 vintage)
"The nose is fruity and offers concentration and a very fine power. It reveals notes of crushed wild cassis, crushed blackberry, small notes of pulpy wild strawberry associated with fine touches of violet, small blue fruits as well as hints of zan, sugared mild tobacco and a discreet hint of pepper. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, mineral and offers a mineral frame, tension as well as a juicy/fresh fruit. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy/fresh cassis, juicy blackberry, small notes of violet associated with touches of wild raspberry, small wild strawberry as well as hints of nutmeg and very discreet hints of spices. Very discreet hints of toasted almond on the persistence."
