Its Origins

Chateau Vermont is a historical property of the Entre-Deux-Mers area. In 1874, it was listed as a "Premier Cru" of the Entre-deux-Mers (Guide Féret 1874 -3rd edition). The estate is now run by husband and wife David and Elisabeth Labat - the 4th generation of the family winegrowers. Chateau Vermont is located in the historic and viticultural heart of the Entre-deux-Mers, a hilly region nicknamed Bordeaux Tuscany with its magnificent landscapes and sunsets. Located 35 km from Bordeaux, the specificity of Chateau Vermont is that it is bordered by the Garonne and Dordogne rivers - the two "seas". Planted in the shape of an amphitheater, the vineyard - entirely drained - is located on the high limestone plateau of the Entre-deux-Mers between 70 and 100 meters of altitude. The red vines are planted high up on the hilltops, on deep clay soils (vein of Pomerol) with limestone: a great terroir for Merlot.

What The Critics Say

90/100 JamesSucklingcom, Claire Nesbitt (2021 vintage)

"This is showing aromas of dark plums, bitter chocolate and violets, with a touch of tobacco. Compact and focused, medium- to full-bodied, with firm yet nicely polished tannins. Merlot and petit verdot. Best after 2025."

VertedeVin (2021 vintage)

"The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is fragrant, fruity and gourmand. It expresses notes of wild strawberry, crushed raspberry, red cherry juice and blackcurrant, combined with a floral touch of violet and peony. The palate is practically non-tannic, round, juicy and gourmand. It expresses flavors of tangy fruits (raspberry, red cherry, blackcurrant), a sweet side of strawberry, as well as a floral touch of violet and peony. The finish is moderately persistent, but fresh and tangy. A light, easy-drinking wine."
