Bouchard Père & Fils Burgundies with Alexandre Garandel - Tues 29th July
The Burgundy tasting of the year! Bouchard Père & Fils are one of the greatest Domaines in France. They are also one of the very oldest in Burgundy, being run continuously for almost 300 years. Today they are the single largest owner of top vineyards in the Côte d’Or with over 130ha, including 12ha of Grand Crus and 74ha of Premier Crus.
Their headquarters is the Chateau de Beaune - a 17th century royal fortress that Bouchard has owned since 1820. The cellars beneath the chateau provide optimal conditions for wine, and their collection of over 2,000 bottles of wine from the 19th century.
This region is the spiritual and qualitative home of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and tonight we will be tasting some of the world's finest examples. 3 whites and 5 reds including two Grand Cru from the famed hill of Corton. We will also be trying a very rare wine from the single finest vineyard in Beaune. A Grand Cru in all but name, and one of the most legendary wines of Burgundy; “Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus” is a monopole of Bouchard from a plot that has been famous since 1638.
These stunning wines will be presented by Alexandre Garandel from Artemis Domaines. The Pinault family have one of the most prestigious portfolios in France, also owning Christies auctions and estates like Château Latour, Clos des Tart, and Château Grillet.
All the wines are from 2022, a triumphant year for modern Burgundy The best vintage in a very long time, and a tour de force for Bouchard. Opening wines like this has become extremely rare, so don't miss out on this world class lineup!
