2019 Ch. la Chandelliere Medoc

Grape
65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc
Its Origins
This wine is released by the current generation of owners at Chateau Bournac, the brothers Guillaume et Thibaud Secret, whose fruit also supplies famous labels like Mouton Cadet. The family's other holding Chateau La Chandelliere has been recognized as a Cru Bourgeois since 1982. The earliest evidence of this estate is dated back to the 1870's. It went through a downtime prior to the Secret family purchasing the property in 1970. With a little elbow grease, the Secret's were able to produce quality wine that would eventually be deemed, "Cru Bourgeois". A title the estate has proudly worn since 1979. The wines today are powerful, and structurally sound.
What The Critics Say
91-92/100 James Suckling
"Solid density in the mid-palate with chewy tannins and wet earth and oak to the ripe fruit. Full body."
90-92/100 Vinous, Neal Martin
"The 2019 La Chandelliere was picked from 2 to 11 October. Deeply coloured, it offers potent blackberry, raspberry and melted tar scents that might benefit from a little more delineation. The palate is well balanced with ample freshness, fine tension and a harmonious, quite penetrating but controlled finish that augurs well for the future. Very promising." Drink 2023 - 2035
91/100 Vinous, Antonio Galloni
"Just as it was from barrel, the 2019 Chandelliere is terrific. Silky tannins, bright acids and lifted floral top notes round things out in this stylish Médoc. Dark fruit, licorice, leather, rose petal and cinnamon. The 2019 is not a huge wine but one of finesse. This Médoc Cru Bourgeois has a ton to offer." Drink 2023 - 2034
