A new Rose from a stylish Waipara producer. The Pink Noise has a softly dry palate that is one of the finest in the Rose genre this summer, made from mostly Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. Very cool and most delicious, the Pink Noise is a must try for late afternoon and aperitif.

Its Origins

Boneline are a Waipara operation with a serious focus on terroir. Waipara’s lime-rich soils and nearly identical climate to Chablis allow Boneline to explore stylistic bridge points between the more restrained French and more brightly fruited characteristics of New Zealand terroir wines. The name Boneline itself invokes a network of ideas linking their wines and terroir to the primordial history of the site, directly referring to fossilised fish bones that have been found around the Waipara River - which also appear on their labels - and indirectly referring to the lime in the soil, itself a residue of fish calcium that forms the various bone-like substrata of many Waipara vineyards and makes the region such a special place for wine. Bringing to their work a broad range of human and marketing as well as winemaking talents, Boneline look set to define new possibilities for their exceptional place and its offerings.

What The Critics Say

92/100 Cameron Douglas MS

"Aromas and flavours of plums and raspberries, red apple skin and cherry flesh. Some super fine fruit tannins and acidity lock in the foundation structure with core fruit flavours persistent. Crisp, satin texture, plenty of acidity and freshness, perfectly balanced and ready for drinking from day of purchase through end of summer 2025."

92/100 Stephen Wong MW

Bright salmon-pink. A burst of candied esters on the nose leads to a concentrated nose of herbal, cherry and hibiscus. The palate leads with acidity, flowing through to a refreshing herbal, bay leaf, wild strawberry fruit on a full-bodied but subtly layered, fluid palate before gripping in with present, chalky phenolics and a crunchy leafy note on the off-dry finish. There is depth here which suggests that it will develop and gain complexity with time. Not a crowd-pleaser, but sophisticated and contemplative with potential to age for a couple of years 05 Dec 2023." Drink 2024 - 2026
