Is it sexy? Pass. Is it delicious? Very! This is because it has rich fruit but also X factor, with layers of Cabernet complexity there to discover. Lay it down or just pour it, this is a modern classic at a moderate price.

Its Origins

Two Hands Wines was founded in early 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz. The original aim shared by Michael and Richard was to make the best possible Shiraz-based wines from prized Shiraz growing regions throughout Australia. Their intention was, and still is, to showcase the diversity of Australian Shiraz by highlighting regional characteristics and allowing the fruit to be the primary feature of the wines. Two Hands refers to the very personable approach taken with each parcel of grapes, no matter how big or small. The wines are carefully guided through the viticulture and winemaking process by Michael Twelftree.

What The Critics Say

91/100 Halliday's Wine Companion, Tyson Stelzer (2019 vintage)

"Matured in 10% new French oak hogsheads. This wine is no longer a sexy beast, if ever it was. It's more serious and considered now, and it will age gracefully, too. The leaf, capsicum and crunchy red/blackcurrants of cabernet's DNA contrast with the juicy, plump, sweet Mediterranean feel of McLaren Vale. Finely textured tannins and tangy acidity bring up a long finish."

90/100 The Wine Front, Gary Walsh

"Thick set, broad shouldered, punchy and brooding and dark. Choc-berry, blackcurrant juice, some liquorice, light caramel notes and cinnamon dusted on the whole lot. Slippery texture, finishes long and with a building chomp of tannins. Oozey, gooey red of good quality here."
