Its Origins

In Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, where the integrity of the producer is often more important than a renowned appellation or vineyard, Maison Louis Jadot is one of the most venerable, most trusted and revered wine houses. Jadot’s winemaking team, now led by Technical Director Frédéric Barnier, has maintained a balance of tradition and technology in winemaking that allows Jadot’s wines to express the subtle differences between terroirs that are the essence of fine Burgundy. Though officially retired in 2013, esteemed winemaker Jacques Lardière continues to work in an advisory role and on special projects. Founded in 1859, the house has grown through a long-term policy of acquisition or management of exceptional vineyard lands and owns 528 acres of vineyards, including nearly 280 acres of the Cote d’Or’s most prestigious Premier and Grand Cru plots.

What The Critics Say

95/100 James Suckling, Stuart Pigott

“What a stunning example of the vintage in Beaune. This really shows what makes these wines stand out. Deep sour-cherry and summer-flower aromas and a wonderfully creamy texture on the mouth-filling, medium-bodied palate. I love what the very fine tannins do for this wine, right through the long seductive finish. Drink or hold.”

93/100 Decanter, Charles Curtis MW

“The Jadot version of Beaune Cras from the Gagey family vineyard in 2023 offers impressive ripeness to the plum and blackberry fruit. The structure seems more powerful and relatively tannic, with less of the moreish, approachable side that was so attractive last year. Frédéric Barnier notes that this is a fairly early-ripening parcel since it is exposed to the southeast. With three to five years in bottle this should be delicious.” Drink 2025 - 2045

91-93/100 Parker’s Wine Advocate, William Kelley

“The 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Aux Cras (Domaine Gagey) is another of the highlights chez Jadot this year, wafting from the glass with notes of raspberries, spices, rose petals and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, suave and pure palate that’s vibrant and mineral. As readers may remember, this old-vine parcel, formerly belonging to the Château de Chorey, is often one of the stars of this house’s Beaune portfolio.”
