Its Origins

The Haag family has been in wine for just a little while - since 1605, to be precise - and over that time they have been instrumental in the development of Brauneberger, an area that has been recognised as one of the Mosel’s best since the sixth century. At the helm today is the youthful Oliver Haag, whose father Wilhelm (son of Fritz) became recognised as a Riesling world leader, awarded the deceptively simple title of Winegrower of the Year in 1994. Oliver himself has at his back a full oenological training as well as extensive experience with a number of leading Riesling producers. With results so superb they effectively define a modern classic style of Mosel Riesling, it seems clear that the Haag family’s future in wine may be as sure as it’s past.

What The Critics Say

94/100 JamesSuckling.com, Stuart Pigott

“Wonderfully fine floral nose with a note that reminds me of a garden after summer rain. Ripe and generous, but also graceful and silky, this is a stunning 2022 Mosel GG. Fascinating red berry and oolong tea character at the long precise finish. Drink or hold.”

92-94/100 Vinous, Anne Krebiehl MW

"The 2022 Riesling Kesterner Paulinshofberg Grosses Gewachs is from 50-70-year-old vines. From a site that, according to Oliver Haag, is in a Dornroschenschlaf, i.e., it needs to be kissed awake like Sleeping Beauty with its deeper, slightly more powerful soils. A creamy touch of apricot makes the first impression, scented with a floral overtone. The palate also has this apricot sheen and that creaminess, yet this is lithe. The backdrop is of exquisitely clear, lemony purity. Lovely, long, elegant and subtly creamy. (Bone-dry). Drink 2025-2050"
