Its Origins
The Haag family has been in wine for just a little while - since 1605, to be precise - and over that time they have been instrumental in the development of Brauneberger, an area that has been recognised as one of the Mosel’s best since the sixth century. At the helm today is the youthful Oliver Haag, whose father Wilhelm (son of Fritz) became recognised as a Riesling world leader, awarded the deceptively simple title of Winegrower of the Year in 1994. Oliver himself has at his back a full oenological training as well as extensive experience with a number of leading Riesling producers. With results so superb they effectively define a modern classic style of Mosel Riesling, it seems clear that the Haag family’s future in wine may be as sure as it’s past.

"The 2022 Riesling Brauneberger Juffer Grosses Gewachs site frames the Sonnenuhr and thus spans the slope from the river to the top. The shy nose has the merest sheen of citrus with just a glimpse of peach. The austere palate is stony and textured, first showing pith. Serene juiciness follows, still tightly coiled, with a touch of salty savoriness. Gradually, the palate becomes creamier, wonderfully serene and harmonious. Somehow, this seems naked; its tightness seems to relax in order to show inherent elegance. Exquisite. (Bone-dry). Drink 2025-2050"
