2024 CVNE Vina Real Rioja Rosado

Grape
Usually a bend of Viura with some Garnacha and Tempranillo
Its Origins
Owned by CVNE, Viña Real dates back to 1920. These are Rioja wines based on finesse and family values with incredible ageing potential. Today this winery is not only a winemaking pioneer in ageing Rioja Alavesa but a timeless brand that has always remained faithful to its roots, with authenticity and sincerity at the fore. Rioja Alavesa grapes are at the very heart of this winery. The winery’s name was inspired by the proximity of its vineyards to the old Camino Real. Clinging to this same patch of earth and blending into the Cerro de la Mesa hill is a monumental 30,000-square metre vat: this is the Viña Real building, an iconic design built in 2004 that masterfully blends the construction into the Riojan terrain. Viña Real’s wines stand out for having the unmistakable stamp of the unique Rioja Alavesa terroir: Predominantly fruity wines with excellent ageing potential, body, structure and aromatic intensity. They're also exceptional high quality for the price.
What The Critics Say
91/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Luiz Gutierrez
"They used some white grapes for the 2024 Viña Real Rosado, with 10% Viura to complement the 60% Tempranillo and 30% Garnacha. It was produced with fruit from younger vines, whose grapes had a brief maceration after which it was pressed and the juice fermented slowly at controlled temperature. It's pale but with a bright pink tint, and the nose is still a little reductive and closes with some floral notes coming through with time and hints of apples too. It has contained ripeness, 13% alcohol a pH of 3.31 and 5.71 grams of acidity with a dry finish. It's supple, with some complexity and freshness. 75,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2025." Drink 2026 - 2029
