2023 Bordeaux En Primeur

We have the first offers for you on the 2023 Bordeaux En Primeur wines. This years campaign has started earlier and faster than normal. Given the state of the world economy, the major story this year is the large decrease in price from many Chateaux. With some of the 1st Growths, we are looking at wines that are over $500 cheaper than last year! The style of 2023 will appeal to classic Bordeaux fans; with aromatic freshness and balance, more structure than recent vintages, and lower alcohols in the 13% range. But these are not lean wines, the best are also endowed with beautifully ripe fruit concentration. These top wines are undeniably spectacular, and in some cases even better than we have seen recently. Quality is more uneven than the last few years though, so unsurprisingly it is those with the finest terroir (and the deepest pockets) who have generally excelled.

With our customers placing a huge premium on value right now, we are making an even stricter selection than usual. So you will not see as many wines offered from us this campaign. We have had a laser focus on just selecting those that offer you outstanding value. You'll find only Chateaux with excellent reviews, who were also realistic and offered large price reductions to the market.

Note: For those buying En Primeur for the first time, these wines are still aging in barrel and will not land until mid-2026. Unlike other retailers (who charge a second payment on arrival), our En Primeur prices are the total and final landed cost, including GST. With the changing economic situation and foreign exchange risk, we do this to ensure customers have complete certainty over what you will pay.
