Its Origins

"Deep underground, a layer of inert volcanic rock (ignimbrite) estimated to be 300,000 years old, transports and purifies rainwater that has fallen on densely forested hills. This remarkable, abundant natural filtration system is known as the Otakiri Aquifer and has been rated as providing the deepest, highest quality groundwater in New Zealand. Since 1996, it has been the source of Otakiri New Zealand Artesian Water. Rainwater travels through hidden fractures 222 meters beneath the ground into the Otakiri Aquifer at a rate of 66,010,000 litres per day, or 764 litres per second, where it is continually confined and pressurised until it emerges more than 50 years later. During its residence in the subterranean Aquifer, the water absorbs the ideal mix of critical trace elements. It is this distinctive blend of dissolved minerals that gives Otakiri New Zealand Artesian Water its essence. At the end of its journey to perfection Otakiri New Zealand Artesian Water is gently bottled at source by our dedicated team. Having been filtered through the ignimbrite rock 222 meters below ground level and travelling to the surface under its own pressure, Otakiri water is only exposed to air at the moment it goes into the bottle, so its purity is never compromised. The second time it meets the air is when you open your own bottle to taste water purified by nature."
