Its Origins
Matchbook Wine Company is a family-owned winery tucked away in Northern California's gently rolling Dunnigan Hills. The Giguiere family immigrated to Yolo County from Quebec City in the 1850’s in search of open ag ground. John and Karl Giguiere are 5th generation farmers who know the region’s soil, climate and true potential of the land. This knowledge combined with their curiosity and drive to innovate defines their determination to constantly improve the viticulture and winemaking of the region.
What The Critics Say
95/100 Wine Orbit, Sam Kim
"Richly fruited with enticing complexity, the bouquet shows notes of mango, golden peach, vanilla, roasted hazelnut, and brioche. It's succulent and supple in the mouth, delivering excellent weight and plush texture, beautifully framed by fine acidity, finishing long and delectable. At its best: now to 2030. Procure. Aug 2025." Drink 2025 - 2030
92/100 Cameron Douglas MS
"Aromas of roasted cashew nut and ripe peach then pineapple, coconut and clay mineral ideas. There’s a vanilla cream scent and bold bouquet overall. Youthful and enticing. ON the palate a full-bodied wine with core fruit flavours that mirror the bouquet, the ideas of nut and spice, wood and mineral follow. As the wine opens out in glass the measure of wood and smoke intensities. The tropical fruit ideas also return. Medium+ acid line, fine less and some tannins add texture and length. Well made and ready to drink from day of purchase through 2029."
