What The Critics Say
96/100 Decanter
"Tawny Port is always exciting, but if you can afford to splash out, go for a 20 Year Old. All the major houses make wonderful aged tawnies and this is always one of the best. Ethereal and mellow on the palate, it boasts flavours of toffee and caramel, burnt orange and raisins, dried plums, hazelnuts and a savoury hint of mushroom on the finish. Wonderful stuff!"
94/100 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer
Full, deep color for an older tawny. Brooding aromas of currant fruitiness, nuts, raisins and minerals. Concentrated, unctuous and sweet; slightly aggressive and powerfully structured, but buffered by strong extract. Maintains unusually fresh fruit flavors for an older tawny. Offers weight and solid structure. Long, sweet finish leaves a glyceral impression, and is not at all dried by the brandy. Very impressive.
17/20 JancisRobinson.com, Richard Hemming
"Dried fruits - fig and raisin, plus caramel and toffee. Long and nutty to finish. Regal. Slight chewiness, and fuller body than the 10 year old. The word 'fresh' is overused, but it applies especially here, where there is significant development and sugar, yet the palate finishes cleansed. (RH)."
