A delicious Rhone red from the sunny village of Ventoux. This classic estate wine by Fondreche is composed of the traditional Rhone blend, in which juicy round Grenache leads and helps to smooth over the spicy darker fruits of Syrah and Mourvedre. A village red for the price of a Cotes du Rhone, the Fondreche Ventoux is a must-try addition to our range.

Its Origins

"A benchmark estate rooted in sustainability and Rhône tradition. Located at the base of Mont Ventoux, Domaine de Fondrèche has become a symbol of quality and precision winemaking in the southern Rhône Valley... The estate benefits from a mosaic of soils—limestone, marl, clay, sand, and stony debris—and a Mediterranean climate with strong day-to-night temperature variation. This combination enhances slow, balanced grape ripening, resulting in vibrant wines with remarkable freshness and finesse. The main grape varieties—Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Roussanne, Clairette, and Grenache Blanc—are cultivated with great care to preserve their identity and reveal the essence of the terroir... Fondrèche practices a holistic, eco-friendly viticulture that emphasizes biodiversity. Cover crops, minimal chemical input, composting, and manual vineyard work all support the vitality of the vines and the soil. In the winery, native yeast fermentations, minimal intervention, and tailored aging in concrete tanks, stainless steel, or neutral barrels ensure that each cuvée reflects its origin with authenticity and precision." What The Critics Say

91-93/100 Jeb Dunnuck

“The 2023 Ventoux Domaine is a normal blend of 60% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Mourvedre that's brought up in a mix of foudre and concrete eggs. It brings more richness and depth, with a terrific core of peppery darker berry fruits, peppery garrigue, smoke, and crushed stone. Medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated, and textured, it should drink nicely right out of the gate, yet this will age gracefully as well.”

92/100 James Suckling

"A round blend of grenache, syrah and mourvedre. On the nose, it has dark cherries, plums and baking spices, following through to a medium body with fine, firm tannins. Peppery and densely fruited. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold."
