2024 Craggy Range Te Muna Riesling

93 Points Richard Caro
In stock
A nice price for a beautifully crafted Riesling from a small plot of vines in the ideal conditions of the Te Muna terraces, Martinborough. This high-scoring dry Riesling is a masterclass in balance. It delivers a subtly generous texture (from lees-aging) that is held on its feet by a bright, zingy acid freshness. A white for any palate, the Craggy Riesling is a must-try at this price.

Its Origins

Craggy Range began with the desire to create a legacy. When Terry Peabody visited New Zealand in 1997 he was introduced to Steve Smith, MW. Terry sensed an exciting possibility in New Zealand; the exceptional climate and spirit of the people aligned with his own philosophy and desire to cut a new path. He wanted to create wines that would become internationally regarded as New World classics. The two men made an important decision from the beginning - to select and source the best land in the country, and to plant the vines perfectly suited to that soil and climate. The winery - one of the most technically advanced ever built in New Zealand - is known for uncompromising standards and meticulous craftsmanship.

What The Critics Say

95/100 Bob Campbell MW (2020 vintage)

"Pure, tangy riesling with lime, citrus, a hint of mandarin, white flowers and a suggestion of saline and oyster-shell character. A taut, vibrant wine, with a subliminal hint of sweetness balanced by mouth-watering acidity that gives an exquisite tension. 14 MAY 2021."
