2023 Two Hands Barossa Gnarly Dudes Shiraz

Grape
Shiraz
Its Origins
The two hands label is derived by the hands of South Australian businessmen Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz. Michael laid the foundation of Two Hands through his extensive extensive experience in marketing Australian wine in the US (for other producers). On the principle that if big is good, bigger is better, the style of the wines has been aimed squarely at the palate of the American palate and the American wine critics- especially Robert Parker Jr and Wine Spectators Harvey Steiman. Grapes are sourced from the Barossa Valley (where the business has 15ha of shiraz), McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, Langhorne Creek and Padthaway. The emphasis of the wines is on sweet fruit and soft tannin structure, all signifying the precise marketing strategy of what is a very successful business.
What The Critics Say
94/100 Huon Hooke
"Colossal purple colour that stains the glass; big ripe bouquet of preserved plums and blackberry jam, a lick of spice; the wine is full bodied and fruit-sweet on the tongue with liberal supple, mouth-coating tannins and satisfying length. Impeccable balance. A classic Barossa shiraz, approachable now despite its youth, and remarkable value. 09 Feb 2025." Drink 2025 - 2038
93/100 Halliday's Wine Companion, Dave Brookes
"A ripe, juicy, contemporary Barossa shiraz with plush plum, blueberry and boysenberry fruit tones along with an array of dark spice, fruitcake, dark chocolate, panforte, olive tapenade, vanilla pod, violets and earth. I love the fruit this year, there's an opulence to it but it tends towards savoury at the back end, fading off slowly with oodles of spice, roasting meats and fine, sandy tannin." Drink 2025 - 2036
