2023 Akitu Pinot Noir Blanc

Pinot Noir
Its Origins
Akitu is the wine of Hawkesbury Estates Limited. We are a family owned vineyard producing exclusively Pinot noir in a variety of clones on an exceptional land holding in the Upper Clutha basin of Central Otago. We planted our 12ha vineyard in 2002/2003 and it produces approx. 60 tonnes of fruit each vintage - the best of which goes to make akitu. Our inaugural 2012 vintage was met with a highly flattering response which has now been complemented with a Gold Medal in the International Wine Challenge for our Akitu A1.
What The Critics Say
93/100 Vinous, Rebecca Gibb MW
“The 2023 Pinot Noir Blanc is a serious, richly concentrated take on a Rosé with the palest of hues. While creamy in texture, a cleansing acidity provides brightness and leaves you wanting a second glass. The 2023 is bone-dry and medium to full in weight. This Pinot Noir is a rounded wine with real girth and appealing flavors of crushed raspberries, fresh pear and apple fruit." Drink 2024 - 2027
92/100 Bob Campbell MW
"Delicate, ethereal wine with subtly succulent, floral, red cherry with a blush of colour and a hint of sweetness. Delicious wine that deserves to be well chilled to restrain the sweetness. 18 JAN 2024." Drink 2024 - 2026
91/100 James Suckling
"Ruby grapefruit, white peaches and apricots with subtle raspberries and cherry blossom followed by underlying sour cream notes. Off-dry, medium-bodied and crisp acidity. Fragrant and delightful wine that is suitable for enjoying on a summer beach. Sustainable. Drink now."
