An important wine from older vines in one of Barolo's most historic vineyards. The Ginestra cru is located in Montforte d'Alba, where the sandy clay soils lie at a 30% gradient on a sun-facing slope. The result is a full-textured and rather brooding style, though with beautiful definition and finesse. An impressive prospect for medium to long term cellaring, the Sori Ginestra is one to collect.

Its Origins

Azienda Agricola Conterno Fantino was established in 1982 by Guido Fantino and Claudio Conterno. The state-of-the art winery is located on top of a hill overlooking the old village of Montforte d'Alba, enjoying an extraordinary view stretching out around the arc of Alps. Conterno Fantino's range comprises a Barolo DOCG from Sori Ginestra, and several DOC wines from Langhe, Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d' Alba and a mono-varietal wine (Chardonnay). The style of their Barolo is modern, showing rich aromas and flavours, lush, soft texture and well-rounded tannins.
