A word-of-mouth legend, the 'Blondie' is a much lighter Rose. Delicate and crisp with a slight blush of colour, this is one of the country's few Vin Gris or Blanc de Noir wines: an almost white style made from Pinot Noir. Such a light colour is achieved by pressing the pure juice straight off the skins. Different and delicious, the Blondie is a gem!

The 26 ha single vineyard site has 16 ha planted in mainly Pinot Noir of multiple rootstocks and the following premium clones, planted at 2666 vines per hectare.

What The Critics Say

Winemaker notes on 2018 vintage

"This unique Blanc de Noir was made from 100% Pinot noir grapes, grown on our family owned vineyard. Ripe hand picked fruit and gentle winemaking have given a wonderfully balanced wine. The elegant champagne colour resulted from minimal skin contact prior to a gentle whole bunch press. The juice was fermented in stainless steel to retain the varietal and fruit characteristics. The wine shows delightful aromas of stone fruit, pear, orange zest and jasmine with white peach, apricot and a touch of honey on the palate. Best served slightly chilled."

90/100 Bob Campbell MW (2018 vintage)

"Very pale rosé with a pretty pink tint. Light, fresh wine with subtle cherry and raspberry wine gum flavours. A soft and ethereal wine, with subtle sweetness nicely balanced by gentle acidity 7/11/2018."

91/100 Wine Orbit, Sam Kim (2018 vintage)

"Pristine and bright, the inviting bouquet shows red apple, nectarine, raspberry and floral characters. The palate is equally delightful and appealing with juicy fruit flavours and fine texture, brilliantly structured by crisp acidity, finishing vibrant and mouth-watering. At its best: now to 2020. $28.00. www.wooingtree.co.nz. July 2018."
