2019 Sandalford Estate Reserve Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon

Grape
Cabernet Sauvignon
Its Origins
The establishment of Sandalford Wines in 1840 coincided with both the first European settlement at the Colony of Perth and birth of Western Australia's world famous wine industry. In 1970, the Company was one of three initial pioneers of the Margaret River wine region (275km south of Perth and today considered by many as one of the world's truly great premium wine growing appellations) when the first vines were planted at its 300 hectare vineyard located there.
What The Critics Say
94/100 Halliday's Wine Companion, Erin Larkin
"With 5/3% malbec/merlot. Fruit from the Wilyabrup vineyard, planted in the early 1970s. Matured for 18 months in French oak (30% new). Aromatically reticent at this early stage, however in the mouth there is hung deli meat, red berry fruits and a fortification of toasty, resinous oak. All things in place, and built for the long haul." Drink 2021 - 2036
92/100 The Real Review, Stuart Knox
"Deep ruby colour, touch of brick-red at the rim. Blackberry, dried tobacco, leather and cedar wood aromas. Full bodied with a core of black fruits surrounded by cedar, tobacco and mocha notes. Powerful but held in check by well resolved tannins, it offers a seamless flow that speaks of bottle maturity. The whole package carries very long and lingering to the dry finish 25 Nov 2024."
