Superbly managed vineyards at high altitude of 350-450 metres allow beautifully ripe and fuller-bodied Sangiovese to retain fresh acidity and fine structure. This utterly classical vehicle delivers the paradox of the finest Brunello: an absolute fruit appeal that is nuanced by a floral/herbal delicacy, and yet is framed nonetheless by an age-worthy structure of huge impact and energy. Its Origins

Lisini is one of Montalcino's oldest wine estates. The Clementi family fought alongside the Medicis in their conquest of Montalcino, for which Capt. Silvio Clementi was rewarded with the Pecci palace in Montalcino, as well as buying another propriety in Sant’Angelo in Colle. Today, signor Filippo Paoletti is responsible for making the five traditional wines, using cement and large oak casks. With Lodovico’s Lisini's death in 1950, his daughter Elina took over, believing in the estate’s potential and initiating the very first bottling until her death in 2009. The Lisini were among the founding fathers of the first Brunello di Montalcino Consorzio in 1963; with Elina becoming one of its Presidents. The current generation of Lisini - Carlo, Lorenzo and Lodovica - continue to uphold the family tradition.

It is a striking specimen of the balmy Sesta zone in Montalcino’s southeast. Scents of myrtle and pine infuse dark cherry and black raspberry. On the palate, iron and chestnut weave through the luscious and exotic red fruit. Equally sumptuous tannins bestow a generous sandy-textured embrace. The finish reveals its tannic and poised structure, yet it’s blended with a primary concentration that adds tremendous balance as nuances of tobacco and licorice fade. Bury this deep in the cellar."
