This Dorilli label is a special "Classico" version of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG from the best vineyards in a delimited subzone and with extra aging before release (12 months in classy large oak). The style's brightness and cherry-spice are deepened here with more Nero D'Avola and nicely ripe and grainy tannins. This will shine after a good decant or a spell in the cellar.

Its Origins

"Diego Planeta, along with Giacomo Rallo of Donnfugata and Lucio Tasca d’Almerita, is one of the three founding fathers of the “Sicilian wine renaissance” sparked 10 to 15 years ago. "The 2017 Cerasuolo Classico di Vittoria Dorilli pulls you close to the glass with an exciting bouquet that mixes wild herbs, smoke, black cherry and hints of animal musk. It’s deeply textural, contrasting a velvety wave of ripe black fruits against salty acids and chalky mineral tones. While youthfully dense, the 2017 boasts a primary intensity, as if you can sense all of the skins, pulp and seeds of the grapes, coating the palate in notes of tart raspberry and licorice, along with a hint of spiced citrus that balances the expression perfectly. The Dorilli is beautiful today but also well-suited for medium-term cellaring."
