2018 Dow's LBV Port

Grape
Port
Its Origins
Owned by the ubiquitous Port family of Symington (solely, since 1961) through many years of growth and mergers. The great house of Dow’s was established in 1798 by Bruno da Silva, a Portuguese wine merchant from Oporto based in London. This savvy businessman was one of the few to ship during the Napoleonic Wars, with his Port ships equipped with guns. The name DOW comes from the merge of Silva’s company with that of another famous Port company, Dow & Co. Throughout the 20th Century and into the 21st, the Symington family has built on the legacy of the preceding Silva and Dow families. The heart of the wines of Dow’s are the two quintas (vineyards) of Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora. These are some of the Douro’s finest vineyards, and allow perfect exposure, drainage and growing conditions year round.
What The Critics Say
93/100 Wine Enthusiast, Roger Voss
"This Port has an intense black fruit aroma and plummy taste supported by rich tannins. Poised between dryness and opulence, the wine is ripe and full with a long aftertaste. The Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribera grapes are foot-trodden at the quintas. It is ready to drink. Suitable for vegans."
