This appealing, aromatic Central Pinot is a customer favourite and for very good reason -- always delicious, with zero hype. It is not too heavy in style, but with a lovely perfumed depth of Central's dark cherry and spice (from that warm valley floor around Cromwell) as well as fine tannins and a little age, it is drinking beautifully. It's a no brainer so don't think it, drink it.

What The Critics Say

94/100 Wine Orbit, Sam Kim

"A fabulously styled pinot; the complex bouquet shows dark cherry, ripe strawberry, roasted almond, game and floral characters with nuances of vanilla and spice. The palate is concentrated and refined at the same time, offering gorgeous fruit purity together with seductive spicy/savoury undertones, finishing impressively long and silky. At its best: now to 2023. $48.00. www.wooingtree.co.nz. Aug 2018." Drink 2018 - 2023

18.5-/20 Raymond Chan

"Rich, deep aromas of dark-red cherry and berry fruit along with notes of dark plums and a subtle layering og dark herbs, spice nuances, liquorice and earth detail. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a complex amalgam of flavours with rich and ripe cherry and berry fruit melded with savoury plums, dark herbs, spice and liquorice notes and earth. The fruit forms a solid core, the richness balanced by fine, grainy tannin extraction and structure, with soft acidity. The flavours carry to a savoury finish of berries, plums, herbs and earth. This is a rich Pinot Noir with complex red berry fruit along with savoury plum, herb and earth notes on a well-structured palate. Match with wild duck and pork over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from the ‘Wooing Tree’ vineyard, clones 115, 777 and 667, hand-picked and fermented with 5% whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 29% new French oak. Winemaker: Peter Bartle. 18.5-/20 Sep 2018 RRP $48.00"
