Its Origins

Azienda Agricola Conterno Fantino was established in 1982 by Guido Fantino and Claudio Conterno. The state-of-the art winery is located on top of a hill overlooking the old village of Montforte d'Alba, enjoying an extraordinary view stretching out around the arc of Alps. Conterno Fantino's range comprises a Barolo DOCG from Sori Ginestra, and several DOC wines from Langhe, Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d' Alba and a mono-varietal wine (Chardonnay). The style of their Barolo is modern, showing rich aromas and flavours, lush, soft texture and well-rounded tannins.

What The Critics Say

89/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Monica Larner

"The organic 2022 Dolcetto d'Alba Bricco Bastia is packed tight with sweet blackberry and blackcurrant. The wine is dense and rich with bitter almond and blue flower at the back. You get a lot of varietal character in this easy wine. This is an 18,000-bottle release. Drink 2023-2025"

90/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Monica Larner (2021 vintage)

"Here's a fun, easy-drinking release from Conterno Fantino, an estate that always works a deft hand on the Dolcetto grape. Opening to a darkly saturated appearance, the 2021 Dolcetto d'Alba Bricco Bastia shows ripe fruit with black cherry and summer plum. The wine is ample and generous in terms of texture and concentration. It would pair with a wood-fired pizza with extra mozzarella cheese. Exactly 16,086 bottles were released."

90/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Monica Larner (2020 vintage)

"The Conterno Fantino 2020 Dolcetto d'Alba Bricco Bastia opens to a bright ruby color with purplish hues at the back. The wine flaunts its youth and freshness, thanks to its exuberant primary fruit. The bouquet delivers blueberry, wild raspberry and sour cherry. Those sweet berry flavors are followed by bitter almonds, lilacs and pressed violets. This wine underlines the purity and typicity of the Dolcetto grape. Some 11,500 bottles were made and you get terrific value."
