2018 Carrick Bannockburn Pinot Noir

92 Points Richard Caro
In stock
A super-classy Bannockburn Pinot Noir that's organically made, beautifully made and backed by Carrick's increasingly long-standing pedigree. This is grown in their on-site vineyard from which the wine emerges elegantly fruited and with a nice presence of fine, minerally tannins. Bright and harmonious but fine-boned and ageworthy, this wine has understated X factor while remaining an authoritative statement in Central Otago style.

Its Origins

Carrick is an integrated organic vineyard, winery, restaurant and cellar door in Bannockburn Central Otago. Known for their quality premium Pinot Noir, Carrick also grows and makes Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc; wines noted for their fruit expression and clarity. Steve Green, the owner-manager of Carrick, the viticulturist, the winemaker and the chef brings understanding and experience to making fine wine and food. This pride is reflected in the care of the vineyard and environment – Carrick has a flock of free range hens, giant compost heaps and a community garden, all part of the Carrick philosophy.

What The Critics Say

94/100 Wine Orbit, Sam Kim (2017 vintage)

"This is stylish and gorgeously composed, showing dark plum, cherry, roasted nut, game and dried herb aromas on the nose, leading to a wonderfully weighted palate that’s elegant yet flavoursome and persistent. It’s refined and complex with well-pitched tannins, finishing impressively long and engaging. $45.00. www.carrick.co.nz. Dec 2019." Drink 2019 - 2024

92/100 Bob Campbell MW (2017 vintage)

"Elegant and moderately flavoursome pinot noir with plum, cherry, spice and nutty oak flavours. Firmly-structured and with obvious cellaring potential. Deserves to be aerated - my sample really blossomed as it sat in the glass. 29 NOV 2019." Drink 2019 - 2024

17.5/20 JancisRobinson.com, Tim Jackson MW (2017 vintage)

"Pale ruby-purple. Nutty, fresh earth and stones, with cedar-clove oak. Perfume and spice that draws you in. Strawberry fruit. Brisk and supple, with fine, moderate tannins. Lovely density and length. (TJ)." Drink 2021 - 2029
