2022 Craggy Range Te Muna Martinborough Pinot Noir
Grape
Pinot Noir
Its Origins
Craggy Range began with the desire to create a legacy. When Terry Peabody visited New Zealand in 1997 he was introduced to Steve Smith, MW. Terry sensed an exciting possibility in New Zealand; the exceptional climate and spirit of the people aligned with his own philosophy and desire to cut a new path. He wanted to create wines that would become internationally regarded as New World classics. The two men made an important decision from the beginning - to select and source the best land in the country, and to plant the vines perfectly suited to that soil and climate. The winery - one of the most technically advanced ever built in New Zealand - is known for uncompromising standards and meticulous craftsmanship.
What The Critics Say
95/100 Bob Campbell MW (2021 vintage)
"Fragrant, silken-textured pinot noir with rose petal, dark cherry, plum and classy oak flavours. Elegant wine from a favourable vintage. Can be appreciated now but should develop well with bottle age. 26 APR 2023." Drink 2023 - 2030
17/20 Jancis Robinson MW (2021 vintage)
"Lower crop, like 2019. Low SO2 additions. Short time on skins. June release Deep crimson. Soft tannins and massive fruit and charm. Inky, slightly (nice) bitter finish after ‘cashmere tannins’. Really sensual. Violets. Utterly seductive." Drink 2023 - 2028
