Its Origins
Otu Estate sources this Syrah from vineyards in Hawkes Bay and bottles it under their label which is based in Marlborough's Awatere Valley: "Our estate is located directly south of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, in the Awatere Valley; the coolest and driest of Marlborough’s three sub-regions. Situated right at the edge of the ocean where exposed cliffs and untamed coastline meets our OTU Estate vineyard blocks, the growing season this far south is longer, with high sunshine hours where ripening is extended – allowing for a perfect balance of intense flavour, delicious acidity and optimal ripeness at harvest."

"Distinctive, fresh, youthful, spicy and dark fruited bouquet. Aromas and flavours of baked black currant and clove, dark plum and vanilla, wood smoke and a touch of boot polish. Firmly textured on the palate with an abundance of tannins and acidity over-delivering on mouthfeel yet contrasted by the core of fruit. Well made, youthful still with best drinking from late 2022 through 2026+."
