28% Merlot, 44% Syrah and 28% Malbec
First planted in 1993, at the eastern end of Waiheke Island, Man O’ War consists of 150 acres of vines planted in 76 individual hillside blocks, each with a distinct soil profile and microclimate. Every single block bears the footprints, and sometimes the names, of those who transformed Man O’ War’s rugged hillsides into a spectacular patchwork of vines. Helmed by winemaker Duncan McTavish and vineyard manager Matt Allen, the wines represent a legacy of preservation and great respect for the land and its history.
What The Critics Say
Winemaker notes on current 2020 vintage
"2020 Pinque is once again pale in colour, sweetly fragrant with red
berry, watermelon and fresh herb notes. The palate is dry and refreshing
with a touch of raspberry sweet tartness on the finish. Loaded with lots
of natural CO2 from the fermentation the 2020 Pinque is fresh, crisp
and very very drinkable!"
91/100 Bob Campbell MW (2018 vintage)
"A blend of merlot, malbec and syrah. Pale-pink rosé, with an attractive mix of floral and red cherry scents plus juicy watermelon on the palate."
