White Wine

2014 Wild Earth Central Otago Pinot Gris

The grapes for this wine are a blend from their vineyard located on Felton Road in Bannockburn and a smaller wine blend in the Waitaki valley. "It is a fruit forward dry style, pale straw in colour, with a floral fragrant nose of ripe pear, quince and peach. The palate dishes up complex flavours of nashi pear, feijoa, peaches and a touch of spice A medium bodied, rich textural wine with a long lingering finish." Matches perfectly with fruit salads, white fish, pear or melon salsa, rabbit, chicken and pork.

2013 Mission Estate Vineyard Selection Hawkes Bay Chardonnay

Normal RRP is $21 - a superb price now after we brought a volume of this wine. We try a lot of chardonnay that we want to sell at $15 and most are dreadful but this one hit the flavour requirement. For Vineyard Selection, they take only the “free run” juice and whole bunch pressed juice from hand harvested fruit. This was then barrel fermented in French oak, with 30% new barrels, and aged on lees 12 months. "The colour is pale straw and the nose has complex peach, marzipan and stone fruit aromas with some toasty notes. On the palate, spice and stonefruit flavours come through on the creamy finish. The efforts they put into lees stirring show through in a rich, soft and silky mouth-feel." Brilliant buying.

2013 Blackenbrook Nelson Chardonnay

RRP $24. Made by the ex chief winemaker of Seifreids who made legendry chardonnay and he has carried on this tradition now with his own winery. Blackenbrook wines have burst on the scene in Nelson. This is an excellently priced, quality chardonnay. "A seductively supple and luscious wine with elegant butterscotch, bran biscuit and toasted nut flavours adding complexity to citrus fruit and pineapple characters." Great value well made chardonnay

2013 Tony Bish Fat n Sassy Hawkes Bay Chardonnay

From the man at the helm of the Sacred Hill Wines. Tony has now started his own label and he will be producing only chardonnay. We have a great price on it as well as the normal RRP is $25. 5 Stars "A delectably plush chardonnay, the beautifully lifted bouquet shows yellow peach, rockmelon, brioche, cedar and vanilla aromas, leading to a powerful palate that's richly flavoured and beautifully textured. The wine offers loads of delicious flavours, perfectly structured by integrated acidity. At its best: now to 2017." Sam Kim- Wine Orbit Magazine. It has 100% Mendoza clone, barrel fermentation and lees stirring.

2013 Herzog Marlborough Pinot Gris

2013 Tietjen Witters Black Label Gisborne Chardonnay

Paul Tietjen and Geordie Witters are two of Gisbornes' top growers and many top labels use their 'old vine' Mendoza chardonnay fruit. They now keep the creme de la creme of the fruit from what is known as 'The Golden Slopes' and this has produced this stunning chardonnay. "...Typically excellent, this wine is fermented and matured in French and American oak barriques, with partial malolactic fermentation." M.Cooper "

2014 Mount Edward Central Otago Riesling

2014 Durvillea Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Made by Simon Waghorn of Astrolabe fame. Named after a local seaweed. "Light, fresh wine with subtle, delicate flavours suggesting tree fruit/nectarine, citrus/lime, lemon grass and a suggestioof passion fruit. Nice purity, an impeccable balance and moderate length. A "second label" that beats many flagship firsts."

2012 Herzog Malborough Chardonnay

2014 Dry River Martinborough Viognier

94/100 from Bob Campbell who writes "Rich, ripe Viognier with orange blossom, apricot, wildflowers and Oriental spices. Big, concentrated and powerful wine with mouth-filling flavours and an almost chewy texture. High alcohol of 14.5% heightens the sense of voluptuousness and adds warmth to the lengthy finish. The wine really evolved as it sat in the glass and will certainly benefit from decanting."
