White Wine

2014 Kusuda Martinborough Riesling

95/100 from Bob Campbell writing "Concentrated Riesling with the Kusuda trademark of purity and power. Crisp, dry wine with wet stone/ mineral, citrus/ lime and wild flower flavours. Serious Riesling with great cellaring potential.

2013 Te Mata Elston Chardonnay

Normally $38. Last of the 2013 and the 2014 will have a price increase so grab this great vintage. This has to be the best Elston we have ever tried- its sure to age beutifully. Grown at Te Mata's oldest vineyard on the hillside above the winery. 19/20 from Raymond Chan and 94/100 from Wine Orbit Magazine writing "As always, this is restrained and elegant; showing delicate aromas of white stone fruit, ripe citrus, vanilla and oatmeal, which lead to a lovely expansive palate that is finely textured and brilliantly structured by juicy acidity. Impressive poise and harmony, and promising much more to come with bottle age. At its best: 2016 to 2025."

2014 Craggy Range Te Muna Martinborough Pinot Gris

This is the first time we have been able to offer a Craggy Range Gris and it is limited. "Multiple French clones of Pinot Gris from Te Muna Road Vineyard are hand harvested together for freshness of flavour and carefully pressed to extract the purest juice and lovely spicy notes from this fragrant cultivar’s skins. Slow but warm fermentations then create a lovely round palate feel to counter the vibrancy of fruit which is a hallmark of our Te Muna Road Vineyard. The result is a refreshing wine which exhibits fragrant spices, fruit purity and luscious texture."

2012 Jadot Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot

"The 2012 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot -Clos de la Chapelle- comes from the 2-hectare monopole that produced around 24 barrels. It has a lovely, sensual nose with apricots and cream emerging from the glass accompanied by hints of almond. The palate is well-balanced with a clean, fresh sprightly opening: citrus lemon, orange zest and apricot that feel harmonious and beautifully focused. This is a tender, intellectual Chassagne." 91-93 Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

2012 Jadot Santenay Clos de Malte

A superb chardonnay from Burgundy. "The 2012 Santenay Clos de Malte (white) comes from Jadot’s two-hectare parcel that is high in altitude, unlike many of the other whites in the village that tend to be on the plain. Lucid straw in color, the nose is tight but attractive, gradually opening in the glass to reveal beeswax and honeysuckle notes. The palate is lively and quite fat on the entry, enveloping the mouth with its tropical notes allied with lovely citrus lemon and lime zest to maintain tautness and freshness. This comes highly recommended." 88-90/100 Neal Martin, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

2009 Mountford Estate Waipara Chardonnay

2013 Sebastiani Sonoma Chardonnay

Wow- a big, gutsy American Chardonnay- a chardonnay drinkers chardonnay and a style that we struggle to find in NZ at this price point. For more than four decades, Sonoma County has been one of the premier regions in California for Chardonnay. Their multiplicity of climates and soils provide a broad range of sites perfectly-suited for this noble grape. Hand-picked and whole-cluster pressed the wine features citrus, green apple, vanilla and caramel in the nose with a dollop of roasty/toasty oak on the palate. Excellent stuff.

2010 Ashwood Gisborne Pinot Gris

An absolute steal now at the new low price of $14.99. Made by Nick Nobilo at Vinoptima this was $29. One of those big, textural Alsace styles of Pinot Gris that people continually ask us for but we hardly ever find in this price category. "Plump, peachy wine with a lovely creamy texture. Characterful wine with lovely intense tree fruit flavours and a lingering finish. Classy Pinot Gris in a truly Alsace-like style." Bob Campbell. Way undervalued for the quality this delivers.

2013 Jadot Saint Veran

100% chardonnay from the Maconnais region in Burgundy. St Veran is right next to Pouilly Fuisse and shares a similar chalk/clay soil profile. This is a seriously good white burgundy with floral notes of lime-blossom and white peach fruit that give way, over time, to notes of hazelnuts, offset by delicate touches of honey, vanilla and flint. Simply stunning. Jadot keep everything very pure here and do not muck around by swamping it in oak. Just gorgeous!

2012 Jadot Meursault Narvaux

For the lovers of fine white Burgundy ( chardonnay ) . Les Narvaux is a vineyard area adjacent to Genevrières and Poruzots, and has very shallow soils and a southerly aspect, which promote both low yields and excellent ripening. This wine exhibits the typical Meursault roundness and approachability, with a pleasing crispness and nutty accents.
