2013 Jadot Saint Veran

100% chardonnay from the Maconnais region in Burgundy. St Veran is right next to Pouilly Fuisse and shares a similar chalk/clay soil profile. This is a seriously good white burgundy with floral notes of lime-blossom and white peach fruit that give way, over time, to notes of hazelnuts, offset by delicate touches of honey, vanilla and flint. Simply stunning. Jadot keep everything very pure here and do not muck around by swamping it in oak.Just gorgeous!

2012 Jadot Meursault Narvaux

This is a great gift idea for a lover of fine white Burgundy ( chardonnay ) . Les Narvaux is a vineyard area adjacent to Genevrières and Poruzots, and has very shallow soils and a southerly aspect, which promote both low yields and excellent ripening. This wine exhibits the typical Meursault roundness and approachability, with a pleasing crispness and nutty accents.

2013 Babich Irongate Gimblett Gravels Chardonnay

Elsewhere this retails at $37. Babich's flagship Chardonnay. A stylish wine, Irongate was traditionally markedly leaner and tighter than other top Hawke’s Bay Chardonnays, while performing well in the cellar, but the latest releases have more drink-young appeal. It is based on hand-picked fruit from the shingly Irongate Vineyard in Gimblett Road, fully barrel-fermented (about 20 per cent new), and lees-matured for up to 10 months. 2010 Bouchard Meursault Genevrieres

In olden days, the vineyards of this great Meursault must have been surrounded by junipers (genévriers) whose name has lived on. This prestigious appellation was classed as a "Tête de cuvée" as early as 1855. "Bright, pale yellow. Lemon, spices and smoky minerality on the nose. Silky on entry, then expands to fill the mouth with rich yet brisk flavors of lemon, dusty stone and vanillin oak. Good acidity gives the wine excellent cut but there's nothing austere about this very nicely balanced premier cru. 2013 Auburn Bannockburn Riesling

Normally $34. The label has been discontinued which is unfortunate as Auburn was a specialist riesling producer but he has left to ply his trade in Orgegan. ( limited availabilty ) "Brilliant, very pale straw colour with green hues, near colourless. The bouquet is soft and delicately pristine with pure white florals intermixed with mineral intricacies, the aromatics showing an understated concentration and power. Medium dry to medium in taste and light-bodied, this is very tight, slender and refined in presentation with a beautifully cutting, refreshing and slippery mouthfeel. The flavours of white florals and honeysuckle combine with limes and a suggestion of wet stones and show with a subtle lusciousness. The acidity has tension and energy and provides a thirst-quenching vitality carrying the palate to a delicate, nuanced and sustained finish with sweet citrus and floral notes. This is a beautifully lively and delicate, pristine medium Riesling with a subtle lusciousness. 2013 Te Mata Elston Chardonnay

Normally $38. This has to be the best Elston we have ever tried- its sure to age beutifully. Grown at Te Mata's oldest vineyard on the hillside above the winery. 19/20 Raymond Chan writing "Bright, light lemony-gold in colour. The nose is refined and tightly bound with stoneftuit, citrus fruit, mealy, nutty elements, and oak spices forming a concentrated core. Fine detail and complexing savoury, creamy nuances unfold, and the richness of fruit becomes apparent with some aeration. Medium to medium-full bodied, softly concentrated flavours of grapefruit and yellow stonefruits are melded with nuts and biscuits and a hint of lemon curd. The flavours grow and bloom through the mid-palate. A fine line of acidity with the finest textures guide the palate to a lush, richly concentrated and lingering finish. This changes and grows with air time. 5-6 years. Hand-picked fruit, WBP and fully barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in new and seasoned oak with lees contact and 100% MLF. 19.0-/20."

2012 Balland-Chapuis Sancerre "Le Chatillet"

Domaine Balland-Chapuis is located Bué, in the heart of the Sancerre wine region. The estate comprises 34 hectares of vines that are spread over 3 Appellations : Coteaux du Giennois, Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé. The terroirs of these Central Loire vineyards are spread through the heart of a region blessed with a fabulous countryside and a rich heritage. In the sancerre vineyards the soil is very stony and full of limestone, this is known as “caillottes". Totally unlike any sauvignon we make here. Much less pronounced fruitiness this gorgeous Sancerre has a real gunflint, smoky minerality that makes you come back for another glass. Everything good Sancerre should be. Excellent with all fish dishes, salads, and goat’s cheese especially.A beautifully balanced, modern french white that is just a joy to drink. Take a walk on the other side of sauvignon its well worth it.
