2013 Dampt Chablis

"Sébastian Dampt is the son of Daniel and the wines are made in the same facilities and with the same philosophies. As the scores and comments suggest, these are terrific wines and at the prices the Dampt wines generally sell for, they are screaming bargains. "Dampt make four excellent Premier Cru Chablis as well as a Petit Chablis but it’s hard to beat their basic Chablis label for sheer good value. Made from densely planted (5,500 vines/ha) 30 year-old vines. Grapes are fermented in stainless steel with full malolactic fermentation and given plenty of lees contact. The result is a classic Chablis style with crunchy green apple and chalky mineral flavours. Best of all the wine is sealed with a screwcap for consistency and added longevity." Bob Campbell "This too is exceptionally fresh with its expressive and slightly riper nose of dried yellow orchard fruit, ocean breeze and algae. 2014 Villa Maria Wairau Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc


2012 Astrolabe Taihoa Sauvignon Blanc

This is Simon Waghorns proud little baby. Only a tiny amount of this barrel- fermented sauvignon was made. If you like Cloudy Bay Te Koko then this will blow your lights out and its a lot better value! 96/100 from Bob Campbell in Gourmet Traveller Magazine writing "Astrolabe's flagship sauvignon blanc is from a coastal vineyard around one hour drive south of Blenheim, about halfway between Blenheim and Kaikoura. The deliberately low- cropped vineyard is planted on free- draining, stony, silty loam with some fragmented limestone. Weighty, full-bodied wine with chalky mineral, green capsicum, gooseberry, passionfruit and lime flavours. Intense and complex wine that gives a nod in the direction of Sancerre.


2013 Vidal Hawkes Bay Legacy Chardonnay

"“The Champion Wine of the Show is a very good example of the new wave of Chardonnay style we are seeing in New Zealand, but still borrows from the great white Burgundy tradition,” Mr Brajkovich ( Chairman of Judges ) said. “It has vibrant peach and nectarine fruit aromas seamlessly integrated with smoky toasted oak.”


2013 Dampt Chablis Premier Cru Lechet

Brilliant buying for premier cru chablis when you compare the quality to other top premier cru labels which sell at $60-$70. The premier cru vineyard of Lechet is located just to the south-west of Chablis town, within the commune of Milly. It is located on south- and south-east-facing slopes just below the Bois de Lechet woodland, overlooking Milly village." A penetrating and perfumed nose displays scents of citrus and mineral reduction that is very much in keeping with the citrusy and well-delineated medium-bodied flavors that possess good richness but also fine verve on the slightly austere, mineral-inflected and persistent finish. This is presently very dry though I suspect that it will become less so with a few years of bottle age. This too is worth considering."91/100 Burghound


2012 Jadot Meursault Narvaux

This is a great gift idea for a lover of fine white Burgundy ( chardonnay ) . Les Narvaux is a vineyard area adjacent to Genevrières and Poruzots, and has very shallow soils and a southerly aspect, which promote both low yields and excellent ripening. This wine exhibits the typical Meursault roundness and approachability, with a pleasing crispness and nutty accents.

2011 Jadot Puligny Montrachet "Clos de la Garenne"

"This is every bit as elegant with refined aromas of citrus, white orchard fruit, spice, wet stone and dried rose petal. There is excellent mid-palate concentration to the round, rich and impressively complex flavors that exude a fine minerality on the intensely saline-infused finish. This is strikingly stylish and beautifully well-balanced though note that patience will definitely be required." 90-93 Burghound "Pale straw-yellow with green highlights. Pear, menthol, hawthorn and acacia flower on the youthful nose. Rich, fine-grained and pliant, showing captivating sweetness but a slight youthful aggressiveness to the reticent but creamy flavors of wet stone and lemon. . Jadot has been replacing vines in this parcel every year, so the average age here is now between 50 and 60 years old"91+ Tanzer


2013 Howard Park Great Southern Riesling

Normally $34. Jeff Burch established Howard Park in 1986 making Cabernet and Riesling. They own around 200 ha of their own vineyards and work with 40-45 contract growers sourcing mainly Margaret River and Great Southern fruit. “We don’t believe that every region does every variety very well” Jeff told me. “We look for specific varieties from specific regions throughout Western Australia.” In spite of the sheer volume of wine that is managed at the Margaret River and smaller Denmark facility in Great Southern, the standards are high." Parkers Wine Advocate. 94/100 from Halliday who writes ""Some development in the colour is no issue, for it is tinged with green; the bouquet and fore-palate have ripe lime fruit to the fore, then crisp, minerally acidity balances and lengthens the palate, boding well for the future.” Produced from the fruit of 30 year vines.


2013 Neudorf Moutere Chardonnay

Absolutely stunning NZ Chardonnay- Definitely one for every serious cellar - this with be one of the most sought after NZ Chardonnays in years to come. Bob Campbell rated this 98/100 writing 'This is one of the most impressive examples of the country's leading Chardonnay labels that i have yet tasted. It's a complex medley of flavours including fresh hay, wild flowers, stone fruit, fresh baked bread and bran biscuit. It's a power- packed wine with a seductively smooth texture. Guaranteed to age brilliantly as its many predecessors clearly indicate." Also 19.5/20 from Raymond Chan writing "Hand-picked Mendoza clone fruit from the Neudorf ‘Home’ and ‘Hill’ blocks on Moutere clay gravel soils, WBP and barrel-fermented with high solids by indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 25% new French oak, the wine undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. The wine was given a further 4 months on fine lees in tank. Full, even straw-yellow colour with pale gold hues. This has a full, deep, fresh and vibrantly fruited nose with elegantly concentrated aromas of rich and ripe yellow stonefruits infused with citrus fruits, nuts, mealy and biscuity elements, and delicate floral-lifted flinty nuances. Medium-full bodied, beautifully detailed and subtle layers of ripe citrus and yellow stonefruits are melded with flinty, nutty, and mealy notes. Layers of interest unfold and build to a crescendo of flavours. The mouthfeel has excellent acidity, freshness, sweetness and liveliness, the palate flowing with poise and tension. Refined in texture, the concentration and line lead the wine to a very long, sustained finish with an array of complex flavour nuances. This is a beautifully vibrant and poised Chardonnay with a full array of complex flavours. Serve with seafood, white meat dishes over the next 5-6+ years. 661 cases made. 19.5/20.
