Aged 18 years before release this is actually superb value when you think of the cost for a wine company on aging stock this long. Marc Brédif was established in the 1890s but the Domaine can boast a history which dates back to 1550. Ancient troglodyte cellars, which contain local wines over a hundred years of age, were carved into the underlying chalk during the tenth century, among the finest and most extensive Chais in Valley Loire. Marc Brédif make the finest and most ageworthy Vouvray Chenin Blanc, wines which drink magnificently on release.

Having steered his family company to one of New Zealand's successful producers, Nick Nobilo could have enjoyed a peaceful retirement after the company was sold to BRL Hardy. But instead he has dedicated his life to producing New Zealand's finest Gewurztraminer from his 9.7-hectare estate in Gisborne, split into two blocks, the first planted in 2000 and the second in 2007 using budwood that Nick had been propagating for over 25 years. The winery is so clean you could eat your breakfast off it 96/100 from Bob Campbell in Gourmet Traveller Magazine and 5 Stars M.Cooper who writes "This wine, launched from 2003, is from Nick Nobilo's vineyard at Ormond, in Gisborne, devoted exclusively to the variety, and is fermented in tanks and large 1200-litre German oak ovals. The 2008 vintage (5*), released in 2013, has been dubbed 'Elegant Rose', due to its 'pungent rose petal scents'. Harvested at 24.5 brix, it is pale yellow, with substantial body (14 per cent alcohol) and highly concentrated peach, ginger and spice flavours, slightly honeyed, deliciously soft and rich. "Candied citrus notes of lime, grapefruit, and blood orange rinds memorably scent this wine then go on to inform a nut oil- and honey-infused, bitter sweetly zesty palate subtly oily in texture. 2012 Coroa Godello

A stunniing dry, minerally white from Northern Spain where it is the classic match with seafood. Brilliant drinking for the summer, and at this price its now well worth trying this godello grape variety thats taking the New York Wine Bar scene by storm. Angel Lopez and his family founded A Coroa in 2002. He built his winery incorporating Roman ruins already on the site. A former nursery owner, he helped cultivate and supply most of the vineyards in this region to the Godello and Mencia vines, which until ten years ago had been abandoned for more "famous" grape varieties. They farm a total of ten hectares over several vineyards. The wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged on the lees for six months. "Green-tinged yellow. Lemon zest, green apple, white flowers and fennel on the mineral-accented nose. Dry and incisive, offering intense citrus fruit and honeysuckle flavors and a subtle herbal quality. 2013 Talmard Macon Uchizy

A producer that puts all their effort into making only one wine that is incredibly good value- Macon ( chardonnay ) from Southern Burgundy. To get good white burgundy at $23 is not easy so this is a great way to experience the delights without breaking the bank. This wine comes from an excellent domaine based at Uchizy in the northern Maconnais, less than an hour's drive south of the world-famous villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. Paul Talmard is from a farming family and cultivates 200 hectares of cereals. The first vines were planted in 1958 and the grapes used to be delivered to the local co-operative at Chardonnay. He felt he could produce better wines himself, so in 1973 took the brave decision to go it alone. The wines have met with great success and the vineyard has now increased to 16 hectares.
