2013 Jadot Macon Grange Magnien

100 % chardonnay from the Maconnaise region in southern burgundy and offers superb value for this quality. This is a single vineyard macon from the slopes overlooking the Saone river.Wonderfully fresh and beautifully balanced. This chardonnay displays a fragrant minerally character that is the hallmark of fine macon wines. If you like your chardannays laid back but with plenty of fine flavour then this is a beauty.


2009 Ata Rangi Craighall Martinborough Riesling

Small production cellar release wine."One of the country's finest dry Rieslings to date, the 2009 vintage (5*), released in 2013, proves how the variety can flourish with bottle-age. From vines 24 years old at harvest, cropped ultra-lightly (3 tonnes/hectare) and made in a truly dry style (4 grams/litre of residual sugar) , it has a scented, toasty bouquet. On the palate, it is finely poised, with intense citrusy, limey, slightly spicy flavours, showing lovely depth, delicacy, vigour and harmony. It should flourish for a decade." M.Cooper


2014 St Clair Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

Trophy for Champion Sauvignon Blanc at the Air NZ Wine Awards. Crafted by Matt Thomson and Hamish Clark Aromas of intensely fragrant with passionfruit, blackcurrant bud and gooseberry with notes of tarragon and flint. The palate is rich and salty with tropical fruits, crushed minerals and wonderful length.

2012 L'Oratoire St Martin Haut Coustias Blanc

A serious white this is a blend of Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Marsanne that was aged in demi-muid. Offering a beautifully rich, classy bouquet of buttered toast, marzipan, honeycomb and white flowers, it is medium-bodied, textured and layered on the palate, yet stays remarkably fresh and lively. Showing tinges of minerality on the finish it will drink nicely for 2-3 years."


2014 Eradus Awatere Sauvignon Blanc


2013 Millton Clos St Anne "Les Arbres" Viognier

Definitely one of NZ best viogniers'. From the steep sided biodynamic hillside vineyard called Les Arbes. 19-/20 from Raymond Chan writing "Fruit from ‘Les Arbres’ a section in the lie of the forest, the whole bunches ‘crunched’ and warm-fermented in 600 L demi-muids to 14.5% alc. and 1.8 g/L RS, the wine aged 11 months in 40% new demi-muids, the wine undergoing batonnage with 75% MLF. The bouquet is full and broad with well-concentrated aromas of ripe apricots and savoury yellow stonefruit kernels, lifted by exotic yellow florals. This has great presence, the fruit stylishly reserved, growing subtly in creamy, nutty richness. Dry to taste and full bodied, a fulsome and mouthfilling array of flavours of ripe, exotic tropical fruits are lifted by exotic yellow florals with nutty and honied notes. This is rich and weighty with a rounded, near unctuous mouthfeel and soft textures. The generosity is enhanced by some alcohol power which leads to a soft, full, rich finish with exotic floral and stonefruit flavours. This is a full, rich, mouthfilling Viognier with exotic fruit flavours and underlying power. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 5+ years. 19.0-/20


2014 Astrolabe Marlborough Pinot Gris

Another outstanding wine from the quality focused Astrolabe Winery. Only the highest quality fraction of free run juice has been used in this drier Pinot Gris, with most from whole cluster pressed hand picked bunches. "Pear and quince, light peach and citrus rind and a whiff of cardamom and nougat are on the nose with a palate that is pure and focussed with a delicacy of structure, finishing crisp and dry. Stonefruit and pear flavours dominate, followed by some light citrus.


2012 Coroa Godello

A stunniing dry, minerally white from Northern Spain where it is the classic match with seafood. Brilliant drinking for the summer, and at this price its now well worth trying this godello grape variety thats taking the New York Wine Bar scene by storm. Angel Lopez and his family founded A Coroa in 2002. He built his winery incorporating Roman ruins already on the site. A former nursery owner, he helped cultivate and supply most of the vineyards in this region to the Godello and Mencia vines, which until ten years ago had been abandoned for more "famous" grape varieties. They farm a total of ten hectares over several vineyards. The wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged on the lees for six months. "Green-tinged yellow. Lemon zest, green apple, white flowers and fennel on the mineral-accented nose. Dry and incisive, offering intense citrus fruit and honeysuckle flavors and a subtle herbal quality. Dry and precise on the minerally finish" 91/100 S.Tanzer


2013 Talmard Macon Uchizy

A producer that puts all their effort into making only one wine that is incredibly good value- Macon ( chardonnay ) from Southern Burgundy. To get good white burgundy at $23 is not easy so this is a great way to experience the delights without breaking the bank. This wine comes from an excellent domaine based at Uchizy in the northern Maconnais, less than an hour's drive south of the world-famous villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. Paul Talmard is from a farming family and cultivates 200 hectares of cereals. The first vines were planted in 1958 and the grapes used to be delivered to the local co-operative at Chardonnay. He felt he could produce better wines himself, so in 1973 took the brave decision to go it alone. The wines have met with great success and the vineyard has now increased to 16 hectares.
