2014 Craggy Range Kidnappers Vineyard Chardonnay

Normally $26. Made using 'the traditional techniques of Chablis', the 2014 vintage is a cracker. "This vineyard is located right on the Pacific Ocean and whenever you visit you can smell the briney ocean scents. The new spin is to take fantastic Chardonnay grapes from this cool vineyard, pick them when the flavours are fresh and alive, and make the wine as if we were making Chablis, fresh, citrusy with a long paper-like/nutty texture and not much oak and always a hint of the sea. No surprise drink with seafood on your plateā€.

2014 Odyssey Marlborough Pinot Gris

2014 Astrolabe Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

95/100 from Bob Campbell in Gourmet Traveller Magazine "Astrolabe earns my vote for being New Zealand's leading Sauvignon Blanc maker. A blend of wines from the four distinctly different Marlborough sub-regions: Awatere Valley, Waihopi, Wairau Valley and Kekerengu. The result is about as true a representation of a regional style that I could imagine. Flavoursome sauvignon blanc with gooseberry, red capsicum, nectarine and lime, plus a suggestion of passionfruit flavours. Classy wine with an etheral texture and lingering finish. Delivers everything a Marlborough sauvignon drinker expects and more." Bob Campbell

2014 Astrolabe Marlborough Pinot Gris

Another outstanding wine from the quality focused Astrolabe Winery. Only the highest quality fraction of free run juice has been used in this drier Pinot Gris, with most from whole cluster pressed hand picked bunches. "Pear and quince, light peach and citrus rind and a whiff of cardamom and nougat are on the nose with a palate that is pure and focussed with a delicacy of structure, finishing crisp and dry. Stonefruit and pear flavours dominate, followed by some light citrus.

2013 Rockbare Mojo Barossa Shiraz

Made by the highly talented team at RockBare ( ex Penfolds winemaker ) Classic, ripe Barossa fruit with truck loads of flavour. Mojo's concentrated Shiraz is like an essence of the Barossa. Plum, blackberry, mint and sweet spice aromas meet well-managed oak in a satisfying juicy, chocolatey- rich red..."

2014 Neudorf Rose

From the highly acclaimed team at Neudorf. Made from low cropping Moutere hillside Pinot noir grapes. Dry, fulsome and engaging with scents of rosehips and sherbet and a charming creaminess. Bottles with minimal filtration or fining. Excellent summer sipping.

Gonzalez Byass Tio Pepe Fino Sherry 375ml

2013 Craggy Range Gimblett Gravels Te Kahu Merlot/ Malbec

Normal RRP $29. If this is what Craggy Range call their 'entry level' drinking then when are so spoilt. Mind blowingly good for this price!. "73% Merlot, 13% Malbec, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc. Vibrant deep garnet colour. Enticing aromas of dark plums and cassis meld with those of nutmeg, tobacco and sandalwood in a classically composed nose. The palate is rich and yet quietly composed, with layers of flavour and tannin linked by fine acidity and the refined dusty tannins of the gravels. Finishes dry and long. Cellar 1-10 years."

2013 Domaine L' Hortus Rose

Made from Grenache- the classic French Rose grape used. "The south of France is home to many blush or rose wines and here is a classic example. A pale salmon colour, with delicate blossom and raspberry aromas, the palate is poised, earthy and dry, a nice degree of bitterness holding things in check". Definitely one of our most popular French rose's

2013 Pieropan Soave Classico

Normally $31. Often scorned as a cheap Italian white, true Soave is a revalation not to be missed. It is one of our favourite European whites in the shop and Pieopan are considered one of the best producers in Italy of this stunnig wine type."The Pieropan family makes impossibly delicious Soave Classicos and has set the benchmark for todays Soave Revival. I cant think of another Italian region that has reinvented itself so successfully." Parkers Wine Advocate. The four generations of Pieropan family craft a glorious, compelling bottle of Soave Classico DOC in this entry level offering. Like a finely tuned watch, Leonildo Pieropan styles it with great varietal character, allowing the terroir to show without oak treatment. The Garganegra grapes are sourced from the warm limestone hillsides surrounding the village of Soave, in the north-east province of Verona, Italy. Influenced by the mists coming off of the Po River to the west, this thicker skinned and later ripening varietal is blended with the more delicate and neutral Trebbiano di Soave grape. With limited yields, the compelling aromas of honeydew melon, lemon, green apple (not Granny Smith), yellow flowers, almonds and marzipan. The less fertile decomposed volcanic rock on the hillsides of the Soave Classico region gives way to minerality, almost steeliness on the palate. Brilliant, top notch European white wine.
