Its Origins

The establishment of Sandalford Wines in 1840 coincided with both the first European settlement at the Colony of Perth and birth of Western Australia's world famous wine industry.

In 1970, the Company was one of three initial pioneers of the Margaret River wine region (275km south of Perth and today considered by many as one of the world's truly great premium wine growing appellations) when the first vines were planted at its 300 hectare vineyard located there.

What The Critics Say

91/100 The Wine Front, Mike Bennie

"Sweet, supple, slick and deep red. Dark plummy fruit, salty mineral licks, cinnamon and clove spice, mint, green olive characters. Lush swoop through the palate, stains everything in its path; bigger and bolder than expected to sip on with crunch and chew of grippy, woody tannins to finish. Full on, but lots of nice fruit character in there. Hefty, done pretty well."

94/100 Halliday's Wine Companion, James Halliday (2016 vintage)

"Hand-picked, destemmed and crushed, open-fermented, fermented and mlf completed in tank, matured in French oak (30% new) for 15 months. Deep crimson-purple; a complex medium to full-bodied shiraz, its flavours ranging through purple to black fruits, embroidered with a range of spicy notes ex fruit and oak, the mouthfeel long and complete. The tannins are fine but (appropriately) noticeable, underlining the ability of the wine to develop over many years, balance its final message."

93/100 Wine Orbit, Sam Kim (2017 vintage)

"It's fabulously fruited and instantly appealing on the nose showing dark plum, sweet raspberry, olive, vanilla and cedar characters, followed by a beautifully flavoursome palate that's succulent and delectable. The wine offers lovely fruit intensity while remaining harmonious and balanced with a lengthy smooth finish. $30.00. NZ Distributor: Eurovintage. Feb 2020." Drink 2020 - 2027
