One of the most highly regarded offerings from this region neighbouring Pomerol, this is an estate to watch. To remove foreign exchange risk for our customers, listed prices are all up final landed cost including GST. Payment is due on invoice/order placement, with delivery in mid 2021.
70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
Château La Fleur de Boüard was begun by the de Boüard family in 1998. Benefitting from the inventive know-how of Hubert, Coralie and Matthieu de Boüard, supported by their technical director Philippe Nunes, Château La Fleur de Boüard has flourished and become the flagship of the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation. Blended with 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the fruit from each individual plot is vinified separately using gravity alone in small truncated cone-shaped tanks. The wine is then aged in oak for 18 to 24 months in barrels, of which 75% are new.
What The Critics Say
91-93/100 Wine Cellar Insider, Jeff Leve
"The earthy, dark chocolate, licorice, black cherry and floral aromatics are just great, But it is on the silky, palate that you really get into the wine. The opulent fruits, freshness and velvet tannins in a restrained style work this year. The wine is made from blending 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon."
89-91+/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Lisa Perrotti-Brown
"Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 La Fleur de Boüard displays pronounced scents of baked blackberries, black cherry coulis and tilled soil with hints of kirsch, dried herbs and fungi. Medium to full-bodied with generous black fruits and a soft texture, it has just enough freshness and an earthy finish. The blend here is 85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon."
16.5/20 JancisRobinson.com, Julia Harding MW
"Inky crimson with purple rim. Fresh and juicy on the palate with a lightness of touch that makes this very drinkable. Nicely dry tannins. Bright and persistent, not simple. 85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon grown on clay and sand over gravel. Barrel sample. (JH)" Drink 2022 - 2028
