Its Origins

The story of two families across three centuries. For almost two hundred years W & J Graham’s has been an independent family business renowned for producing the finest Port wines. Graham's was one of the first Port companies to invest in its own vineyards in Portugal’s Douro Valley in 1890 and is now at the cutting edge of innovation in winemaking techniques. Today, five Symington cousins share responsibility for every aspect of the company and personally make the Graham’s wines. They too have been involved with Port and the Douro for many generations, with ancestry dating back to the mid-17th century. Graham’s owns five mountainous vineyards, which are located in different parts of the best wine-growing areas of the Douro region. Each property has the maximum ‘A’ grade classification. Much of the original wild flora has been left deliberately undisturbed amongst the vines on these estates to preserve the indigenous biodiversity, which Graham’s believes contributes to making wines with a more unique and powerful expression of this terroir.

What The Critics Say

99/100 Derek Smedley MW

"There is a mass of rich ripe fruit on the nose yet there is spice cinnamon and cloves. Concentrated flavours the palate has a rich mix of black fruits, damsons, black cherries an opulence and sweetness. Firm tannins but they are ripe the rich fruit is underpinned by a fresh streak the finish has a mix of spice lots of black pepper – a wine with harmony and balance." Drink 2038 - 2065

20/20 Matthew Jukes

"This wine has every single facet of flavour and energy that I adore in vintage Port. The nose is epic and all-encompassing and the power and attack on the palate is relentless and also insanely pleasurable at the same time. Infinitely layered and lasting for minutes on the palate I went back to taste this Port three times such was the magnetic appeal of its profound flavours. While this is a dense and indulgent wine it has exquisite freshness, too, and the balance is nothing short of perfect."

99/100 James Suckling

"Extremely complex aromas that show the classic Graham character of black-fruit marmalade and burnt oranges. Follows through to a full body with great grip at the finish. Lightly sweet. Chewy and powerful. Such a focus at the end."
