Grown in Nelson, this blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris has been bottle conditioned, leaving a little sweetness, a slight fizz and a cloudy complexion in the glass. Juicy tree fruit flavours are balanced by subtle spice and refreshing, light body. Effortless as an aperitif, this classic style of Natural Wine is also simply yummy. (No added sulphites.)

Its Origins

Raymond Chan: Lance Redgwell is one of the new generation of young winemakers breathing new life into the Martinborough vignoble. Open-minded, yet respecting of what has already has been established, he aims to extend the work of the pioneers, heading into a brave new world with the incorporation of contemporary ideas and innovations. He has embraced biodynamic viticulture and winemaking methods as natural as possible. The base of Cambridge Road is the 1.8 ha of vines established in 1986, approx. three quarters Pinot Noir and one-quarter Syrah, which he produces varietal bottlings as well as the ‘Dovetail’ field blend. ‘Animus’ is "really a more affordable look into my work” and includes material not included in the top tier ‘Cambridge Road’ wines. Fruit from other sites has been sourced for the ‘Animus’ wines, as well as the even more accessible ‘La Luna’ label. The wines are made in Lance’s winery on site, commissioned in 2010.

"11.5% alcohol. This pet nat is made from organically grown grapes from Nelson. It’s cloudy and beautifully expressive with a bit of spicy bite. Fresh with nice citrus, pear and ripe apples. There’s a bit of grapey sweetness and it finishes fresh. Lovely."

"Pear and biscuit flavours with a touch of citrus and herb. Relatively generous mouthfeel with yeast derived characters. Enjoy simply over the next few years. The latest in our evolving pursuit into the Petillant Naturel style. This vintage draws on a few new components in an attempt to offer even more delicious immediate spring balance. The juice is simply blended and co-fermented with wild yeast and zero additives or filtration. The wine bottled with only natural sugar and yeast in suspension, which you will find as sediment in the finished wine."
