2017 Flowers Sonoma Coast Chardonnay

Grape
Chardonnay
Its Origins
Pennsylvania nursery owners Walt and Joan Flowers had long dreamed of applying their green thumbs to a shared love of wine, particularly the cool climate grapes Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 1989, after years of careful searching, they decided to pioneer some of the more extreme terroir of the developing Sonoma Coast, with vineyards just two miles from the ocean on wind-swept ridges of 350 to 550 metres. Top quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay thrive easily here, the San Andreas faultline ensuring that local soils are a complex mineral tapestry while the California heat is tempered by elevation, fog and maritime breezes.
What The Critics Say
93/100 wine Enthusiast, Virginie Boone
"This well-made, widely appealing wine is inviting in jasmine and orange-blossom aromas, with a tension of energy and focus in its well-integrated acidity. The oak is behaved and quietly complementary, boosting the hints of nutmeg and gingerbread."
