A concentrated and refined Cabernet from Argentina's Mendoza. Alluring mineral, spice and herbal themes unfold around a core of dark and supple Cabernet fruit. Cabernet is getting overlooked in the mania for Argentinian Malbec, but this stylish and charismatic wine makes a different statement. Smaller volumes though, so don't dally.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Its Origins

Mendel Winery embodies the union of Roberto de la Mota - one of Argentina’s most respected and experienced winemakers - with an established Argentine family. Together they are dedicated to producing wines of unquestionable superior quality expressing the quality and character of their very old Malbec vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina.

What The Critics Say

91/100 Vinous, Stephen Tanzer

"Bright medium ruby. Very ripe aromas of blackberry and bitter chocolate are enlivened by an herbal element. Densely packed and penetrating, if a bit youthfully closed, offering classic Cabernet Sauvignon typicity and definition. Not a fat style but still shows more mid-palate texture--and a less pronounced pyrazine quality--than the 2016 version. Finishes juicy and firmly tannic, with excellent grip and length and a lingering note of coffee. As much French as Argentine in style." Drink 2020 - 2027

91/100 Wine Advocate, Luis Gutierrez

"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon has some beeswax, pollen and honey aromas intermixed with the classical varietal aromas. It has a soft and approachable palate, with fine but round tannins and a clean and tasty finish with varietal flavors. This is still from their vineyard in Perdriel, but in the future, as their vineyard in Altamira starts producing grapes, it might turn into a blend of the two regions, or they might end up making two separate Cabernet bottlings, one from Perdriel and another one from Altamira. They have not yet made the 2018 blend, so it's still undecided. We'll see... 36,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2018." Drink 2019 - 2022
