En Primeur product: order now for arrival mid 2019. A finely textured Haut-Medoc from one of the area's most recognised and historic estates. La Tour Carnet became Classified Grand Cru Classe in 1855 (Quatrieme Cru), and is now owned by the stellar Bernard Magrez with Michel Rolland as wine consultant. Very close berry selection including optical sorting, berry by berry, has produced a gently lush wine with real depth behind detailed, floral fruit. One of the great houses at this level of the market — and cheaper than expected this year  the La Tour Carnet is a superb bet. To remove foreign exchange risk for our customers, listed prices are all up final landed cost including GST. Payment is due on invoice/order placement, with delivery in mid 2019.

Its Origins

Château La Tour Carnet dates back to the 12th century and is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc region. The medieval architecture features a tower built in 1120 and the château is surrounded by a moat. La Tour Carnet has had several illustrious owners, including the family of Michel de Montaigne, one of the greatest French philosophers and twice-elected Mayor of Bordeaux. The vineyard of Château La Tour Carnet was planted there in 1407. The property was purchased by Bernard Magrez in 1999, with Michel Rolland now acting as consultant.

What The Critics Say

91-93/100 Wine Cellar Insider, Jeff Leve

"Full-bodied with layers of blackberries, espresso, smoke and tobacco leaf on the nose and palate. The chocolate-covered blackberry and cassis in the endnote keeps on going, which is a good thing. The wine was made from a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot."

90-92/100 Parker's Wine Advocate, Lisa Perrotti-Brown (2018 vintage)

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 la Tour Carnet features notes of warm black cherries, dark chocolate, star anise and garrigue over a core of blackcurrant cordial, black raspberries and black tea. Medium to full-bodied with a rock-solid frame of firm, grainy tannins, it has a muscular mid-palate and a refreshing herbal lift on the finish."
