Because the estate produces no reserve wine, this label carries all the best of this highly selected fruit. Made by Michel Rolland for a either lengthy future in cellar or a mouth-filling and characterful red in the shorter term. Its Origins

Château Haut-Brisson is now located on the limestone plateau of Saint- Etienne-de-Lisse and the gravelly hilltops of Saint-Sulpice de Faleyrens and spreads over 22 hectares. In 1997, Peter Kwok acquired Château Haut- Brisson in partnership with this daughter Elaine. The property benefits from a diversity of terroirs of ideal exhibitions en- joying maximum exposure to the midday sun and excellent natural drainage conditions allowing optimum harvest. Château Haut-Brisson practices organic farming.

“Dark in color, the wine is rich, forward, round and soft. The fruit is ripe, open, lush, sweet and doesn't hide its charms. The finish is all about the toffee, licorice and dark plums. Give it 4-5 years in the cellar and drink it over the next 10-12 years after that. The wine was produced from a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, reaching 13.95 alcohol. Production is close to half its normal volume this year, as a large portion of the vineyard is being replanted." Drink 2024 - 2037

"The 2018 Haut-Brisson comes from Vignonet and Monbousquet in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, from the lieu-dit Laroque. It is blended of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and has 14.6% alcohol. It is aging in 35% new, 35% one-year-old and 30% two-year-old barrels for an anticipated 18 months. It has a deep garnet-purple color and comes charging out of the glass with baked black cherries, warm blueberries and preserved plums with touches of pencil shavings, kirsch and chargrilled meat plus a waft of Indian spices. Full-bodied, the generously fruited palate has a lovely plush texture and just enough freshness, finishing with a menthol lift."
