A succulent Rose from central Otago expert, ex-Peregrine's Pete Bartle. This offers deliciously bright and candied fruit, but not too much sweetness. Instead this perfumed but balanced and moreish wine is very well made and from great sources -- predominantly Gibbston Valley fruit grown in the cool elevation of 400 metres, with some from Bannockburn and Queensberry to round it out. Outstanding at this price, the Providore is a stunner.

Named after the providores who once supplied the goldfields, this complete range of Central Otago classic styles are seamlessly balanced and perfectly delivered, offering from the get-go some of the very best value in New Zealand wine.

"Bright, pale peach-pink colour with some depth, lighter on the edge. The nose has a finely concentrated, elegant, but intense aromas of strawberries, watermelon and pomegranate along with fragrant red florals and mouthwatering minerals, forming a deep core with detail and interest. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has rich fruit flavours of strawberries, pomegranate and watermelon forming a well-concentrated heart with good depth. The fruit has plenty of energy and drive with a little alcoholic power underlining the wine, and the wine flows smoothly along a seamless line with lacy, thirst-quenching acidity adding to the freshness. The wine carries to an elegant, lingering, nuanced finish of red fruits and florals. This is a rich and concentrated dry rosé with strawberry and floral depth, energy and drive on a seamless palate with mouthwatering acidity. Serve as an aperitif, with antipasto and tapas over the next 2 years. Pinot Noir fruit, predominantly from the ‘Clark’ vineyard in Gibbston with small amounts of Bannockburn and Queensberry fruit, hand-picked and WBP, and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 2.1 g/L RS. 929 cases made. 18.5+/20 Nov 2018 RRP $25.00"
