"Single-variety Chardonnay whose
characteristics which have made it so famous which
here emerge very clearly. Starting from the richness
of its deep clear golden but transparent colour one
imagines the pleasing contrast of creaminess and
crispness in the taste. It is indeed a soft white wine
underlaid by a refreshing acid vein which accompanies
each mouthful. A slight mineral suggestion combines
harmoniously with the flavour of ripe yellow peaches,
acacia honey and marzipan and with some peaty,
cereal and toasted aromas which precede the powerful
balanced finish."

"Bright golden yellow. Strong notes of vanilla and caramel complicate tropical fruit nuances on the nose. Then rich and ripe, with buttery and oaky flavors of orchard fruit and pineapple. After last year’s more discreet Old World-styled mineral Chardonnay, this is a return to Planeta’s more typical Chardonnay style, one that harkens more to the New World. "The 2014 Sicilia Menfi Chardonnay takes Sicilian white wine to a whole new level. The Planeta family has been tinkering with this wine for a number of years and has gradually lessened the overall oak impact. That change is evident here and the grapes have benefitted from the excellent 2014 growing season. This was one of the best vintages in recent memory on the Mediterranean island. The bouquet offers balanced spice and ripe fruit with soothing creaminess and big intensity. I'm going to suggest a long drinking window for a wine of this high quality."
